The facts about MicroFiltersThe facts about MicroFilters
As the deployment of ADSL2+ ramps up, microfilter deployment again requires attention.
Microfilter compliance standards for ADSL1 services were initially simple. As a result, microfilter performance issues were often encountered in the early stages of ADSL1 deployment.
Compliance standards have evolved since then. To satisfy ACA and Telstra’s own specified requirements, microfilter designs have become much more sophisticated.
ADSL2+ services offer much greater bandwidth and the older-style ADSL1 microfilters were simply not designed to function correctly over the entire ADSL2+ bandwidth.
Certain ADSL1 microfilters may perform adequately under certain ADSL2+ service conditions, they are not guaranteed to work over the full ADSL2+ bandwidth. This leaves ADSL2+ users susceptible to line noise which may affect both voice and data streams.
