Did you know?

ADSL2+ speed <24Mps vs USB1.1 throughput <12Mps

All ADSL modems available in Australia only support up to USB1.1, another good reason to recommend that your customers connect via Ethernet.

A common wireless networking problem with a simple solution

Sometimes, users report the error: "The network may no longer be in range".

This error can be caused by a number of things, but a common cause is a mismatch between the Channels available on a wireless adapter and the Channel the wireless router/modem is configured to.

Australia is based on the ETSI Regulatory Domain, and operates on Channels 1-13. Most wireless adapters are only able to operate on Channels 1-11, because they are based on the US Regulatory Domain. For example, Intel Centrino Wireless Adapters, which are in most current laptops, can only operate on Channels 1-11.

A quick solution is to change the Channel that the wireless router/modem is configured to, and re-connect to it wirelessly. Users can find instructions on how to do this in their User Guides.
